And here it gets interesting: Under the moniker 'Lou & The Hollywood Bananas', Lou also had a major solo success in France and Belgium in 1978 with a song titled Kingston, Kingston which - just listen to the clip embedded below and you'll recognize the melody quickly - is the original version of Pattaya's unofficial hymn.
Wikipedia also explains how that came about: Lou Deprijck - obviously a globetrotter - now lives mostly in Pattaya where "life ... inspired him to rewrite the text of ... Kingston, Kingston into Pattaya, Pattaya, which soon became the unofficial hymn of Pattaya."
YouTube also has a video of Lou performing Pattaya Pattaya at what seems to be one of his favourite bars in Funtown, the Lookout Inn at the Center Condo in South Pattaya: http://youtu.be/3iFtQ5_BSE4. And here's Lou performing his classic Charlie Brown at the same venue: http://youtu.be/OIsRGxBEaTY.
All we can say is: Thumbs up to the musical genius of Lou Deprijck.
